I had a chance to work on student live brief from FutureDeluxe and Ravensbourne Motion Graphics BA. The brief was easy and complicated at the same time, we needed to visualise a sound.
I decided to visualise the sound of the modular synthesizer by inspirational Caterina Barbieri (sound: Caterina Barbieri - Memory leak, 0-0.16 sec).
The main anchor material was the light. My concept was to explore the paradox of the synth sound through the texture of light. From hard, sharp and rough welding sparkles through geometrical mechanical patterns to the soft, fluid, distorted cosmic material full of infinity space and stars (also inspired by “Infinity mirror room” by Kusama). The idea was to show how these two textural contrasts work together and create one dynamic paradoxal unity.
Incredibly grateful for this 6-week experience full of research, fun, messy tests, discussions and intuitive art practice.
